Code of Conduct

UTS:CSEC would like CSECcon to be an safe, inclusive, and welcoming event for people of all backgrounds to explore, discover, teach, and learn from each other. To facilitate this learning community, we have written out expectations for behaviour that we require from attendees, volunteers, speakers, sponsors, and anyone else involved with or adjacent to CSECcon. This also includes UTS:CSEC online spaces and where people are hanging out during or after the conference. CSECcon Staff will enforce this code throughout the conference.

We have a zero tolerance policy for harassment in any form. CSECcon is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, physical appearance, race, or religion, technology choices, sexual images in public space, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. This is not an exhaustive list. If you aren't sure whether you'd be harassing someone by doing a thing, don't do it.

Sexual or abusive language and imagery is not appropriate anywhere related to or adjacent to CSECcon, in person or other materials such as slides, handouts, or anything else.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

We expect all participants to follow these rules at the conference and workshop venues and conference-related social events.

If a participant fails to comply with the CSECcon Code of Conduct - including the UTS Code of Conduct - the UTS:CSEC Executive team may take any action they deem appropriate, including ejecting you from the conference without a refund, banning you from future events, notifying ActivateUTS, UTS, and the appropriate authorities.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact us immediately. CSECcon staff can be identified wearing branded clothing.

We take all reports seriously, and will use discretion when responding to a report. We will be logging all reports that are made.
